​Just married. Already bored. Hedda longs to be freed. In this classic play by A Doll’s House playwright Henrik Ibsen, gender norms within the institution of marriage clash with a woman’s desire for independence. Hedda confronts whether power, or even equality, is within her grasp as a woman, a question whose answer remains uncertain for many today. The immediate relevance of Ibsen’s classic becomes striking in this bold, modern minimalist approach.
