If you have not yet signed up for audition appointment or were unable to attend your audition slot on Monday, you may sign up for a slot on Thursday.
Callbacks will happen Sunday afternoon with specific assigned times to be announced. If we need you to attend callbacks to read again, we will contact you via email on Friday.

What should I prepare? If there is a role that is of particular interest to you, you may prepare that character’s “audition side” (excerpt from the script used for an audition). See below for the list of characters and the audition pages that may be used throughout the casting process. There is nothing that you need to have memorized. Your familiarity with the story and characters will be helpful. Scripts are available for check-out from the SCT office or may be read here:

Password: auditions2025
What should I wear? Ultimately, dress in a way that makes you feel good! Many actors like to dress professionally, with a flavor of the show in mind.
What should I bring? Know your schedule, as you will be asked to list on the audition form any conflicts you may have during the rehearsal process. Scripts will be provided at the audition.
When should I arrive? Give yourself about 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time to fill out the audition form. A volunteer will greet you when you walk in the door and offer you the audition form to complete.
How will the audition work? At your scheduled audition time, you and the others in your time slot will be welcomed into the studio space, where you will meet the director and members of the SCT production team. The director will talk about the show and the audition process. Then, it’s play time! You and the others in your group will have the opportunity to read a variety of characters and scenes.
What happens after I audition? After the second night of auditions, you will receive an email about what the next step of the process will be. It may be that we need to see you again to read some more on Wednesday night (callbacks), or it may be an email that says “hang tight as we make decisions.” Whatever it is, SCT will contact you directly. Once casting is decided, SCT will contact those cast and then those not cast. This correspondence is handled privately through email. SCT will announce the cast to the public at a later date.
I’ve never done this before! Should I still do it? YES!!! SCT welcomes all experience levels. We will guide you through the process and be your cheerleader. We applaud those who accept a challenge and want to connect and collaborate!
Roles (7 women):
All ethnicities and types are encouraged to audition. Actors should be female-identifying or non-binary. Age is flexible. Beauty is subjective. So long as all are fast, fierce, and f***ing hilarious. The script contains strong language and content.
Harriet (40s-60s, any ethnicity) Chief of Staff. A political bulldog who has chosen every aspect of her life, appearance, and personality in service of her career; lives and dies by the polls; starts the play at a seven and skyrockets from there; everything is a means to an end.
Jean (late 30s-60s, any ethnicity) Press secretary. A hawk in a turtleneck; a high-strung, quick-witted woman who can handle any pressroom and sterilize any scandal; a single working mother whose pristine life is threatened only by her knee-weakening attraction to disastrous sexual partners - one, in particular; Harriet’s more polished and more tactful counterpart; think CJ from The West Wing, but with more bite, cynicism, and learned paranoia.
Chris (late 20s-50s, Black) A journalist. Overburdened, under-slept, postpartum, newly divorced, on the brink of irrelevancy; a dogged reporter with much to gain and everything to lose.
Bernadette (late 30s-60s, White) President's sister. A total trash fire; strife and mayhem; a coked-up tornado with raw sexual charisma, fiery temper, and fantastic sense of humor; Jean's kryptonite.
Margaret (late 40s-70s, Black) The First Lady. An impeccable combination of high fashion, corporate experience, and legal savvy; regal, sophisticated, brimming with bitterness and pent-up rage; goes for the jugular.
Dusty (20s-30s, any ethnicity) President's Plaything. A glowing, curious, sex-positive girl with a multitude of skills and a bright future! Loves civic duty! Loves democracy! Determined to make the world better!
Stephanie (20s-50s, any ethnicity) Secretary. Obedient and diminutive, terrified of failure and perpetually on the edge of a nervous breakdown; deeply brilliant, crippled by her own imposter syndrome; so much potential energy and range just waiting to be set free.

What should I prepare?
- Bring a song to sing! Prepare an excerpt of a song (no longer than 60 seconds please) that you enjoy, that shows off what you can do, and fits the style of this particular musical. The songs are from the 70s — have fun! You can bring sheet music for a piano accompanist, which SCT will provide, or you can bring an accompaniment track, and utilize SCT’s Bluetooth speaker.
- If there is a role that is of particular interest to you, you may prepare that character’s “audition side” (excerpt from the script used for an audition). See below for the list of characters. Audition pages that may be used throughout the casting process will be posted at a later date. You do not need to memorize the script for the auditions!
- Your familiarity with the story and characters will be helpful. Scripts are available for check-out from the SCT office or may be read here:
