Since 2012, the Tuesday following Thanksgiving marks Giving Tuesday, a day focused on supporting your favorite non-profits through unified charitable giving. Springfield Contemporary Theatre has been humbled by the outpouring of support from our patrons near and far As the pandemic wears on, we have reassessed our current needs and abilities and have allowed our imaginations to explore and seize new opportunities. The pandemic has presented new and unprecedented challenges for theatre makers across the country, and SCT remains committed to produce theatre that puts our artists' and patrons' safety first. For Giving Tuesday 2020, we hope you will join us in pursuing our new and exciting plans through this year's campaign.
Starting February 2021, Springfield Contemporary Theatre will establish a new base of operations at 2025 E Chestnut Expressway. The move is an economical one that allows us to operate under one roof. This move will consolidate what has been three different locations and will result in one rent and utilities payment instead of three. In this new space, SCT will be building a virtual production studio that allows the organization to provide safe, high quality, consistent, year-round productions that its audiences have come to expect. What's even more exciting is that when the weather is right and pandemic infection rates allow, we can present outdoor productions onsite!
We are committed to Downtown Springfield, and we continue our search for a permanent home in the downtown area that will allow us to produce indoor productions in a safe and healthy situation for performers and audience as social distancing guidelines can be eased in the future.
We welcome your questions and ideas. Please reach us during office hours or online.
Springfield Contemporary Theatre is known for real, premiere, immersive, grown-up theatre. Thank you in advance for helping Springfield Contemporary Theatre achieve our goal this Giving Tuesday. Together, we will continue to create theatre safely, and and with a fresh perspective.
SCT’s goal is to raise $10,000 this Giving Tuesday to support:
1. A virtual production studio, equipped with an SCT-sized stage equipped with light trellises, new energy efficient LED light fixtures, necessary video equipment, video editing equipment and improved internet infrastructure for streaming capabilities.
2. Continued solvency which allows the SCT staff to dream big without fear of closure by locking in a reduced overhead for the next two years.
3. The future at SCT: each item purchased for this new space will be selected to not only support this current venture, but also the transition into SCT's eventual permanent home.

We hope you are all staying healthy. In this time of uncertainty, we must all do our part to support and protect one another.
As local cases of COVID-19 surge, SCT remains closed to the public in order to protect our audiences, artists and staff from the spread of the coronavirus. We are determined to weather this storm and look forward to welcoming audiences back the the theatre as soon as we are safely able – it is now clear that we will not be able to resume in-person performances before the end of 2020.
With performances suspended, our primary revenue stream has been shut off. However, the bills have not. We ask you to consider making a gift to SCT to help us address the overwhelming economic implications of the pandemic. In these extraordinarily challenging times, theatre and the arts offer solace to a frightened nation and our fellow citizens.
Your support at this time will help sustain Springfield Contemporary Theatre so it can continue to produce high-caliber theatre experiences and be a vital part of our community.
We are forever impressed and grateful for your passion and support. We need it now, more than ever before. Thank you.

Springfield Contemporary Theatre produces nine mainstage productions in a year-round performance schedule as well as other special events and performances. We need your help to continue offering quality live theatre at a reasonable admission price to attract a wide socially diverse audience. As a non-profit theatre company, only half our annual budget can be covered by ticket revenue, therefore donor support is crucial to Springfield Contemporary Theatre’s success. If you are already a supporter, thank you. If not, please consider making a gift today. In addition to individual donations toward our season goals, SCT is also looking for individuals, businesses or organizations to help sponsor specific productions, guest artists and projects throughout the season. If you have any questions about donating, please contact our Executive Director, Lou Schaeffer at SCTheatreMO@gmail.com.
